Paradise Meadows in Strathcona

This afternoon, Marije and I drove up to Strathcona Provincial Park to walk the Centennial Loop Trail in the aptly named Paradise Meadows:

This pleasantly easy trail is found right next to the Mt. Washington Ski Area, so it gets quite a bit of foot traffic.

Walking down the trail, we were soon greeted by this friendly whiskey jack (grey jay); first it sat in a tree, then it hopped onto Marije’s hand, then onto her head, then onto my shoulder, and after that it flew off. Obviously it was expecting some sort of treat.

If you’re interested in going yourself, here’s a nice pdf flyer I found online.

    1. We had a little water with us so we tried holding it up for them in cupped hands, which in retrospect was a little silly standing next to a pond 😉
