All vacations must come to an end, including this one, so after our time on the West Coast we drove back home, back to Nanaimo.
Here are some pictures of the last few days:
This is the aquarium in Ucluelet, where they have the same catch & release policy as at the Petty Harbour mini aquarium back in Newfoundland:
On the way home we stopped to admire this midday rainbow over Kennedy Lake …
… and we saw several beautiful Steller’s jays on our lunch stop at the Taylor River:
Back in Nanaimo, our good fortune finally ran out as the weather turned cold and the rain started coming down. Here’s two pictures taken on a walk at Biggs Park:
And here’s a humpback that was kind enough to show up when Majorie and I went on a whale watching trip out of Victoria:
At one point it swam right up to the boat and poked its nose out of the water:
After the whale encounter, the boat returned to Victoria via the Race Rocks Ecological Reserve, where we saw lots and lots of sea lions:
I think you’ll agree this was a great vacation, and I’m already looking forward to the next one!
